2014 was an exciting year here at Rockleigh Equestrian Centre. It has been an extremely busy, yet thrilling time for us! Approximately a year and a half ago we began building a new team for our facility whom are dedicated to the sport and our horses. Our accomplishments since then have been plentiful. A big thank you to our entire staff and amazing clients! We look forward to what 2015 has to bring!! Below you will see shots of some end of the year events:
Rockleigh Equestrian Centre News
Debra and Esperanza (a Saddlebred Rescue) came to R.E.C. in July of 2010. Esperanza has been thoroughly enjoying her retirement at Rockleigh Equestrian Centre. Debra, her loving owner, gets great fulfillment from owning and visiting her horse and has developed a very close connection with Espie. Knowing the meaningfulness of their relationship and understanding the joy that they have for one another really is inspiring. Boarder, Cathy Disoteo captured some of their precious moments together. R.E.C. wishes Debra and Espie a very happy anniversary and looks forward to many more years with this charming pair!
Less than a week ago, R.E.C. happily welcomed new boarder, Katie and her horse–Jackson. Katie has owned this 12-year old thoroughbred gelding for almost eleven months now. She wants to continue to build her relationship with Jackson as well as grow stronger in her jumping abilities. Currently, her main goal is to work up to a full course out in our cross country field. The R.E.C. staff looks forward to watching these two progress together and helping them along the way!
Thus far, it has been a very busy summer here at R.E.C.! Recently, long-time boarder, Cathy Disoteo took some time out of her day to take some wonderful photos of our staff, clientele and horses. We want to send out a big thank you to her for taking such lovely photos. As you can see, they do a great job of capturing this beautiful facility and why we are so passionate about what we do here every day.
Rockleigh Equestrian Centre held a clinic on Monday, July 7th with trainer – Debra Rubenstein. During the clinic, participants started with flatwork where Debra analyzed each individual. From this she focused on main points that each horse and rider should work on to get one step closer to their goals. Participants were also challenged with some ground pole work as well as a course containing gymnastics. R.E.C. looks forward to inviting Debra back for another clinic in the near future.
Memorial Day was a busy day for Rockleigh Equestrian Centre. Some of our staff and clients headed to Bedford, NY to take part in a Bedford Riding Lanes Association hunter pace while others were off to Kinnelon, NJ to attend a horse show at Smoke Rise Farms. The weather was perfect for both events!
The Bedford pace is hard to forget because of it’s beautiful scenery along the way. The teams encountered ten miles of trails which included downhill terrain, lush fields, multiple water crossings and plenty of natural jumps!
Meanwhile, at Smoke Rise Farms, we had a long, yet fulfilling day. Our horses and riders did exceptionally well at the first horse show of the season. Two of our horses that attended were new to the hunter/jumper show scene, yet they took it all in stride…we couldn’t be happier with them!
R.E.C. wishes Nicole Kovolenko all the best with her recent purchase of ‘Winky’, a gelding whom was imported from England. He is a solid 3’6″ horse with room to go bigger. Nicole has already started to develop a wonderful relationship with this gorgeous horse. She plans on attending horse shows this year, with a specific interest in taking Winky to the jumper and equitation rings.
Rockleigh Equestrian Centre would like to congratulate the Rabinowitz family on their purchase of “Ace”. Nicole Rabinowitz will be the primary caretaker of this special guy. The eight-year old, thoroughbred gelding was brought into the barn by R.E.C. staff whom are confident that he is a great fit based on Nicole’s specific needs and goals. Nicole is excited to take part in hunter paces and possibly some local horse shows. We wish her the best of luck and look forward to helping her along this thrilling journey!
